2022 Bush Vine Tempranillo, Frankland River

Vineyard

The Tempranillo was sourced from Swinney’s Wilson’s Pool vineyard in Frankland River. Growing in ironstone and loam soils without trellising, this fruit develops some amazing aromatics and flavours, and a great balance of fruit and acid.

Winemaking

Handpicked, pigeage (foot stomped) in the fruit bins and on skins for 5 days with daily plunging. We’ve then taken our inspiration from Spain’s Rioja region, and have opted to ferment initially in stainless steel before age in a mix of new and old American oak plus a proportion of older French oak too for a total of 12 months all up, before blending
